We all love quilting - of course we do - but (dare I say it!) is there anything you don't like about it? Maybe just a teeny-weeny thing that's really annoying and makes you want to give up on a quilt. There must be something or why all those UFOs.
LOL - I read your title and thought you were talking about our furry friends! I definitely have a love/hate relationship with my kitty when I am sewing.
I would say the part I dislike the most is layout out the finished blocks. I spend WAAAAYYYY too much time stressing over the layout.
Mine is getting it from the design wall to the machine. The wind blows it down, I put it back, down again so I give up. I need to invest in more pins. lol
Choosing the fabric. I'm really bad at putting colors together. Just give me what I need so I can start my quilt. This is why I shop my LQS. I tell them the base color, how many different colors I need and then they help me choose. It's also why I love precuts. No guessing. Just pick the charm or layer cake I'm going to use and get started.
I don't mind making the blocks and sewing them into rows....but putting the rows together would have to be mine. Once the rows are together I'm good to go again.
Shirleyaka buckeyequilter I work to support a sewing habit that I don't have time for, because I work!
I hate sandwiching the quilt, I have nowhere large enough to lay it out to get it all smooth. So I send them all out to a gal upstate to be quilted or I'd have all UFO's.

My living room floor is large enough but I have high blood pressure and all that bending over gives me a migraine. I can't get down on my knees - not only would I not be able to get back up but I also could not move around on them.
So - making the quilt sandwich is my least favorite.
Sandwiching! If I could just have a sandwiching fairy visit whenever I've finished a top, all would be right in the world. Sadly, I have a stack of UFO's still waiting for that fairy to show up.
Sandwiching! My bad back from a horse riding fall and 3 major car accidents over the years, OY!!! Now that I have a 56" square cutting table the NICU/PICU quilts aren't too bad. But when I'm done with a 54" square one, I'm out for the rest of the day with pain killers. If I had the funds, I would send them out to be quilted! Too bad Jean won't move here to Atlanta to be close to her daughter Michelle! Ohhhh Jean!!!

The main reason I have UFOs is that I get bored pretty easy and enjoy working on 5-6 projects at the same time. Case in point, I just stitched blocks for a Falling Charms quilt and found it bored me nearly out of my mind. It's my latest UFO since I just took a long stroll through Pinterest and came back with some fresh ideas and new enthusiasm. I'm leaning more and more toward the Modern Quilt Movement. I love the fresh designs and the ingenious use of fabric they embody. I also love making miniature/small quilts....which is probably my true passion now in quilting. I love making tiny flying geese and manipulating them. There is always something to be excited about in quilting.
