Bernina 550 qe walking foot issues

Firstly thank you for the Birthday wishes. This question is for you Bernina 550 qe owners. I am having real problems using my walking foot. The stitches are not coming out evenly, some are small, some big. The back is not consistent either. I am trying to do a square spiral on a version of the falling charms quilt. My materials are a charm pack, dream puff poly batting, cotton backing. The thread is king tut, and my needle is size 90.

I have never been able to get the walking foot to do its thing. On my last quilt I gave up and used my embroidery foot to quilt using decorative stitches.

I know that the foot is on correctly and have messed around with the tension settings to no real avail. Anybody know how to get it to work nicely ?

Have you checked the foot to be sure it isn't broken? Also, you may need to adjust the pressure foot pressure (I lower mine to use the walking foot on my machine).

As far as I know the foot is OK . Only got the machine in October. I have taken the pressure foot pressure down to 25.

You have the little fork thing around the screw? The base foot is the one to use for what you are doing? Mine came with 3 bases. I used mine incorrectly the first 3 times I used it....

I have the forky thing around the needle clamp. Should it be around the actual screw itself? Also using the quilting sole.. its the closed one but not the one for stitch in the ditch

Is it a genuine Bernina walking foot or is it a generic one that is just supposed to fit a Bernina? Some that are advertised online say they are Bernina walking feet but they really aren't. Does it say Bernina on it?

If it is attached correctly & is the foot that matches your machine it should be working. I am sorry you are having this difficulty as it must be frustrating! I just got mine this fall and it worked well except that, strangely, it squeaked and needed a tiny amount of oil on the moving parts. However, the stitches were ok so it doesn't sound like that is the problem with yours.
