Sewing Room Makeover! basically finished! So excited :)

I started at the beginning of December. The room has always been my sewing/craft room but it was also a catch all because we don't have much storage space in our house. I did a major purge and re-organzation first, then started painting the old dark, yucky fake wood paneling. I made a huge work table out of a bunch of small side tables from ikea and topped it off with a piece of veneered plywood trimmed to fit exactly. The tables sort of make shelves which is great for storage. I framed my inspiration art piece… a piece of original art I have had most of my life but never got around to having framed. Painted my shelves and a thread holder, constructed a light box, got a gidget table for my one sewing machine that I'm going to use as a FMQ machine, and set that up with a table and desk around it to support quilts while I am working on them, etc. And the other day I sewed a curtain, chair cushion cover and a pillow and chair seat that all coordinate! It's basically done, but I have plans for a couple wall hangings, etc. Here it is!!!!

Looks nice. I like how the white color you picked makes the spaces seem bright and the decorations pop. It also looks so clean and neat.

Thanks, it's a super pale cream/yellow color. So it has a little warmth to it but still really neutral. I'm so excited about the room. It was AWFUL before. Dark, and a mess. I can't really be creative or productive if my surroundings are messy.

Are you left-handed? Your ironing board is pointing the "wrong" way.

I love the chair cushions and curtains you made. And your Ikea table is awesome! Believe it or not, I hadn't thought of painting my spool racks, but now you've inspired me.

I would be soooooo happy to have a dedicated sewing space. Great job.

We lived in a small Cape Cod Style house with rooms like this on the 2nd floor. Both rooms were paneled when we purchased the house in 1980. DH went to the paint store, purchased some primer, and then painted the walls white in one room ( our room ) and the other ended up being a Pepto Bismal Pink ....my daughters choice. When we sold the house, we repainted the room cream color on the advice of the realtor. What sold the house months later was not the change of paint in the entire house, but the fact I changed the colored drapes to pure white....in the living room.

My question to you is how is that table ( with the cubby holes ) made.....what did you use for the darker ( wood ? ) top ? I really like this.

Wow! That looks great! You've got a lot going on in your space. How did you construct your light box? Couldn't tell from the pic.

What a wonderful space. The ceilings in my sewing loft are just like yours, I use the rail to hang quilts in progress on, or long pieces of fabric I have pressed. I have to use every inch of space LOL

Great space and arrangements. I like the painting if the thread holder and I like the ribbon use for hanging. Gotta steal those two ideas. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy!
