    Re: Quilting horror story!

I wonder if you washed it in Vinegar and a little washing Soda if the scorched smell would go away......???? There are sprays out there you can spray on fabrics too to take the smell out of chairs & fabric etc.....( can't remember the name of the product sorry ! )

That is a beautiful quilt. I'm so glad you were able to save it (and didn't have to turn it into a wall hanging!). I have the type of personality that would have just kept ironing, so I'm really, really impressed that you had the good sense to stop in time.

    Again, I love your quilt.

Ohhhh Kate, I am picturing this situation in my head and I too am horrified. You poor baby. I'll just bet you did not get any sleep working on this.

Cyber arms all around you, girl.

eta: PHewwwww, I see the good save now. Thank you for sharing your success with us. I saw the "Horror Story" headline and commenced to writing before reading through the entire thread (I do that sometimes)

Sew glad to see this turn out as it did. You know I'm a color freak so I'm loving the boldness and Vonnie's got it right, vinegar in the wash and you'll be good to go.

Oh, Julie, I'm so glad you were able to save it! It's just beautiful. Don't worry about the scorched smell; that should come out in the wash.

It's lookin good! Try some white vinegar in the washer. Or, if you don't want to wash it, put in the dryer on low heat or air with two or three dryer sheets - this worked on a quilt of mine that reeked of cigarette smoke.

Came out really cute. The smell should wash out hopefully.
