I have been feverishly working today on my D9P from scraps from my stash, running out of some fabrics, subbing others trying to have some kind of pattern in this quilt. Got all my blocks finished, had them all laid out, and began sewing blocks and rows together. I got 2 rows sewn together, and as I started pressing the seam....my iron went rogue!! It got super hot, I smelled burning and it burnt my quilt top! I want to throw up!!! I am ripping out the burnt patches and trying to salvage what I can. Needless to say, my iron burned out. Cheapo iron!! I have a backup...and hopefully some backup fabric to finish this quilt top. I refuse to go to bed till it is solved!

I saved it! The pattern isn't consistent like it was...but maybe when it's quilted, you won't notice. Still smells scorched!"She who dies with the most fabric wins"

Re: Quilting horror story!
Ohhhh Kate, I am picturing this situation in my head and I too am horrified. You poor baby. I'll just bet you did not get any sleep working on this.
Cyber arms all around you, girl.
eta: PHewwwww, I see the good save now. Thank you for sharing your success with us. I saw the "Horror Story" headline and commenced to writing before reading through the entire thread (I do that sometimes)
Sew glad to see this turn out as it did. You know I'm a color freak so I'm loving the boldness and Vonnie's got it right, vinegar in the wash and you'll be good to go.Last edited by lyric; January 15, 2014, 10:07 AM.sigpic
