Please may I borrow from your experience?

Happy Friday everyone.... I hope yours is lovely.

I'm working on a quilt (using Kansas Troubles - Favorites) and so far I'm really pleased with it.
I'm making 8 inch squares and the pattern calls for 5 x 8 of those plus a 6 inch border(on each side), so the finished quilt should be 52"x76". I want to make it a bit larger, so my question is.... do I add one row each horizontal and vertical? Is there a norm? What size do you make your quilts?

Thank you so very much for your help......

    Hugs

you could do that or you could add a sashing between your blocks and boder. it is all up to you and what you like. no set rules

Mia, take a look at the Moda site - they give different dimensions and 'standards' for quilts. Look around as it is a very fun site to visit.

Thank you Sandy ...... I'll go check it out................

Johnsonhouse, yes I really do love the colors........ and surprisingly so because when I first got the jelly roll in the mail I was not so impressed. They are really gorgeous though. What are you making? The one I'm working on is called Pandora's Box and it is a four patch framed with 2 1/2" bands. I hope I can figure out a way to post some photos when it's finished (so far I haven't been successful with posting pictures.

Huggggs and thanks to both of you

Hi, I had problems loading the pictures too. The only way is to reduce the size of the picture. This is what I did and worked.
              Open the Paint programme.
Click File and and select open. This will allow you to go to your saved file in other applictions and select your picture folder and select the picture you want to reduce the size.
Next when your picture appears on paint, at the top of the tool bar select Image and click on Resize/skew.
Bring it down Horizontal and vertical to 40%.
Save your picture, this will allow you to upload to this site.

Re: Please may I borrow from your experience?

I just googled your pattern. If you don't think you'll like sashing between the blocks, I would do what you originally thought: put one more row and column on the quilt.
