    Hawaiian Quilting

Our quiltnut asked about applique and it started me thinking once again about Hawaiian quilting.
Has anyone done this? i have a friend in Virginia who is a master at Hawaiian stitching but she lives too far for me to go to for visits these days.

    Here are a few links:

I think we should make a trip to Hawaii together and take some of those classes in your second link Blondie. Let me know when it's time to pack! I've always admired those designs. It's on my 'someday' list to try.

      Aloha,

I have spent many years in the islands and admired the quilts, but I've never tried applique. Now I'm very sorry I didn't take a class when I lived there.

If you've got the money honey, I've got the time! We'll go honky tonky and have a real good time. (Now I won't be able to get that song out of my head tonite!)

Oh Mia! How wonderful that you were able to enjoy the tropical splendor ~ perhaps one day you will get the chance again. Of course, I am considering buying a sandbox, a tropical plant, a sun lamp and pretend I am in Aloha - land, along with my needle and thread.

You know it's nice here as well and I have beds for five if you don't mind sharing...sadly we don't have Hawaiian quilting and it's something I have always loved but never done...maybe I could just meet you all in Hawaii.

I would love to come to Aussie-land. And I also love how y'all think and quilt. My favorite magazines are always the Austrailian patchwork and quilting ones. Just have a hard time finding them here and when I do they are so pricey. Each copy I have is very well worn and faded from my drool.

When I come into the money - I'll call ya Blondie! You never know!
                    OH! Wouldn't that be fun!
DH and I do have the military free travel with our benefits but never had the extra cash we'd have to spend once we'd get there. We are working on trying to save some money in case Odie gets stationed there or Japan. Those are the only 2 Maine overseas bases which they say he is sure to get at some point.

Trish, I will keep my bags packed. I can eat PBJ's if the travel is free.

Lynn, you'll be the first to know if Trish or I win the lottery. I would sooooo be there yesterday.

All righty - I go up and pick up Jan, then on down to get Blondie, then head over to see Lynn and then on to Hawaiii for some classes and back into Missouri for some special shopping and visits - it is fun to dream isn't it?

In the meantime, I'm still plugging away at that huge cowboy quilt. I'm anxious to get on to my next project so I hope to finish this one tomorrow.

                          Hugs,
