    Double gauze as quilt backing

I ordered some on Etsy to make a summer dress and it is so soft. I know it is used for baby swaddling blankets, but was wondering about backing. I searched about it and there are lots of comments about how wonderful it is to sew with.

So have you ever used it for quilt backing, problems, tips?

I would say it's like homespuns. I would think it could be fine. If it's washed a lot I would be afraid it would get tears or holes since it's woven so loose. I made a very loved quilt and it has homespuns in it and i have two squares that need repaired or appliques over.

I’m not sure about using it for backing unless it’s for a quilt that can be pampered. I don’t think I would risk it, Lorie. Surely others will weigh in on this.

I would say no as I do not think it would wear well for a quilt.

I was hoping to hear it would be okay for a crib size baby quilt. I'm trying to find an alternative to minky. I don't trust buying flannel on line, unless you girls have a proven brand to look at.😃

A E Nathan is quilt shop quality flannel. Check out this website, all of their flannels are nice and the site is cheaper.

Awesome, thanks Karen! Between your suggestion and Stella (I recognized her after looking at her prints) I think I have all the solids I was looking for. I wasn't looking for prints, just solids, polka dots etc. Happy Dance!
