    New Sewing Machine Recommendations Please

I have a Janome 8050 that I loved that is not working and for the price to repair it, I might just get a new machine. I also might repair it AND get a new machine. I have been searching for a machine that has stitch number 31, a blanket stitch, and I cannot find one. I've seen several that have about 10 basic stitches, including a zig-zag, but I specifically want to be able to do a straight stitch and a blanket stitch. I haven't found any that can do both for below $300. Can anyone recommend a specific machine? I use it to piece quilts and to applique by using a blanket stitch around the edge of the applique.

Check out some Brothers. I have 2 that have blanket stitches in both directions (left and right) You should be able to get one for under or around $300
No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.

I can’t make out what is 31 in your pic, but have you looked at the Brother CS6000I? I bought one for my daughter so I could sew when I visit. I was surprised at how much I liked it. It isn’t as sturdy as my more expensive Brother, but it was fine for piecing, and had a nice variety of stitches. I loved the button hole foot.

We just had this come up the other day, a machine in that price range. I'll just post the thread.
