Who's Going to the Show Me Safari Shop Hop?

Just wondering if anyone is planning a trip to Hamilton, Missouri for the Shop Hop event? Fortunately for me, I live in the St. Louis area and am planning a 2 day Quilt shop spree on Thurs Sept 30 and Friday Oct 1. I'm taking along a good friend who is a hand quilting veteran and we plan to make a fun time of it stopping at several of the shops in the list. We will probably find a motel midway between Kansas City and Hamilton for Thursday night.

Just wondering if anyone else is planning to be there the same time....maybe we could meet for lunch or at one of the shops?

Aww Maaan! I live on the West Coat, and it takes me three days of driving just to get there! I am planning on renovating my sewing room that weekend too. I hope you have a great time! Sounds like you have a good plan in place.

I want to go. But I can't. I'm too far away. I live in NY state. But, some day I'm going to go and meet people on the site in MO. Laura108 was in NY this weekend and we met. She is the best lady. And her other half is a sweet wonderful guy. I really loved her. So have fun and think of me and tell Jenny and the family hi for me.

Wish I could go too but I think the drive from PA would be a tad too far.
I did go on a shop hop in the western PA area and had loads of fun. Luckily my girlfriend had a GPS and that got us right where we needed to go. I'm sure it saved us lots of driving time too.

Have fun and let us know how it goes!

        Hugs,

          We are!
My 3 girlfriends and I sat in a booth last night and discussed our schedules and laid out a map for our Shop Hop! We plan to do 5 shops NORTH of Smithville on MONDAY, the 27th and then hit the ones SOUTH of there on THURSDAY, the 30th. We definitely emphasize a visit to HAMILTON (we'll start and spend the longest there!). If you want a heads-up on that shop, visit my blog where I wrote about my first visit to this awesome shop!
It was absolutely amazing! My four friends chose the day for a field trip and we piled into the largest van and took off for Hamilton, MO. O...

I would need to know your schedule to plan a lunch outing, but it would be fun to meet you! We're a crazy group, but we have fun and a SHOP HOP is exactly what we look forward to this September week!
          Whatever works out...have fun!
Sorry to all the others too far away to join us!

Shop Hop week starts TOMORROW!! We won't be able to head over there til Thursday but are really getting excited about seeing lots of shops and especially MSQC! We plan to stay overnight in Cameron and spend lots of time at MSQC before we head back home on Friday. (Debi I sent you a PM about our scheduling) Looks like the weather may cooperate and it should be a fun trip! I will try to take pics if allowed and post some to the forums after we get back!

I am surprised that you are staying in Cameron...but hey, I am all for it since that is where I live!! Which night are you staying? Wed and Thurs or just Thurs?
I am not doing the shop hop. Timing is not good. I have another couple of shops I would love to visit that I know the owners of...but oh well.
Have a great time. Oh, and which Hotel? Do not say Econo Lodge.

Have fun.....post some pics so we can live vicariously through you!

Re: Who's Going to the Show Me Safari Shop Hop?

Hi Hillbilly! We are staying overnight Thursday only...at the Comfort Inn. It will take us almost 4 hours to get to the KC area. We thought we would spend most of Thursday afternoon on the drive up I35 stopping off at Liberty, Excelsior Springs and Kearney (not sure if we will make it to Smithville or not) and then if we can get checked into the hotel by early evening we will try to make a stop at MSQC before they close at 8pm. Friday morning we can stop back over to MSQC in the daylight before we start the trip back home. Depending on time available we may try to stop at some of the shops south of I70 on the way back to St. Louis.

Any good restaurants in the Cameron area? Why surprised we are staying there? The main criteria for us was its just off the highway and not far from MSQC!

I just figured you would stay in Liberty and not come farther up the highway...but Hamilton is a little drive from Liberty or Kearney.

We are a small town, but since we are on the highway, we have several really nice Hotels and one nice 'touristy' place to eat. It's called Ma and Pa Kettles. It is a bit pricey so the locals rarely eat there. There is also a good Mexican place. The chinese restaurant is good, but not the chinese buffet.
