    my first table runner

I saw this table runner at a fabric shop and fell in love with it. It was love at first site, so i bought it and made it. But instead of using it I donated it to our church ladies auction nite instead. All the proceeds go to our missonary wives as a christmas gift. I knew deep down that if it didnt sell, it would be mine, all mine. Well the auction went started and things were being sold left and right. They were down to 3 items and my runner was one of them. Well the gal picks it up and starts the opening bid, my heart was in my throat and my palms were sweating. I kept saying to myself noone bid. But as fate had it the hands went flying in the air. At one point I was gonna bid ,but I couldnt because that wouldnt be fare. It sold and my heart sank, but thats ok, it went to the home that it really was suppose to be in. And the money went to a good cause.

Paula I know what you mean about wanting to hang on to a personal creation that carries a little bit of your heart and soul. I hope you do take several good pictures of each of your projects and keep them in a memory book showing your creativity. I have started doing that recently and find that giving things away to a good home is easier when I can remember my "babies" with photos.

Plus like others have said....you can always make another one reserved just for YOU! You deserve to have it when it tugs at your heart like that.

            Hi Paula
here is a BIG HUG and a wink!
My story is of a Traditional Christmas Fabrics Around the World Quilt top (picture in my album)......... i inherited both my grandmother and mothers stash fabrics - yes, that is alot of fabrics - the first thing i made was this top. It was so beautiful and many of the fabrics had been used in other projects thru the years. About June of that same year i really really needed a few extra dollars and so i listed the top on ebay...... it sold right away and i put it in a box and away it went to its new home. Of all the quilts i have made, this is the one I really miss................... oh and then there is the Bargello Duvet and the Attic Window and the Eye Spy and the ............. long story short... you will have new ones to love and give and make new again. We all do - that is the real beauty and enjoyment of crafting.....

Even if you don't pick out the same...go to the fabric shop. It makes a person feel better!
