I have a book that I've held onto for years, and even hand-dyed some fabric several years ago that isstill set aside for it. But, I've never quite gotten the technique. I would love to learn this!!

That is so lovely very colourful too,I have been to a class making a bargello jacket, asymetrically cut ,it was a lot of work for me at the time.
Ive been trying to find a video on how to sort and assemble the strips,is it a secret or something? because i don't see anywhere a video is shown how to do the straight bargello.Ive tried a few times, but im just not getting it the ups n downs part of things.Senior moments or what lol.
Any links or advise would be appreciated.Blessings all.

    wow wow wow!!!
Great job I made a bargello a couple of years ago that is one of my very favorites. did not use the tube method but that sounds like a great idea - have to give it a whirl (after the block swap)

I've always loved the look of Bargello quilts and it seems that once you know the technique you can make endlesss variations. It's definitely on my (horendously long) to do list.

Your version is beautiful. I love the bright colours!

started a topic Bargello quilt wallhanging

    Bargello quilt wallhanging

I just went to a quilt class the other week, in which we learning how to do bargello quilts. I used 15 different fabrics, which were cut into 2 inch strips, then sewn together, and then sewn again to form a tube. Then you cut it again into the width of your strip that you want....no smaller than 3/4 of an inch; and no larger than 3 1/2 inches....then you adjust the color up or down depending on how you want your design to go. It was challenging, and gave a whole new twist to tube piecing. I was excited to learn a new skill. Now I just have to find the time to finish the wallhanging. I still have to add the batting and backing and then quilt it. LOL
