What a cute quilt! I like how the feature fabric stands out and the colors and prints are adorable. Your son must love it. Great job, especially for a new quilter!
Love your quilt! I especially like the way you put that red border on and THEN you added more colorful patches around the outside - I have never seen that done before that way.
That's why I just love these quilting boards - there is always someone out there who does something a little different that just makes these quilt pop! I'll have to incorporate your idea into one of my future quilts.
Welcome to the board and can't wait to see your next project!

Mandybear your Farm Quilt is adorable! I agree, the Disappearing 9 Patch would be a fun quilt to do. If you applique, maybe a Sunbonnet Sue? Either way, have fun!

That is so fun! I love the way the different sized patches look like an aerial view of fields.
Are you using the same fabrics for your daughter? A disappearing 9-patch would give a similar effect and it's quick and easy to do. There's a clear tutorial here: http://quiltsatcs.blogspot.com/2007/...-tutorial.html
This is my first ever quilt that i made. It was for my 5 year old son for Christmas 2009. His favorite colour is red, he loves being on the farm riding his horse and being around the farm animals. It takes pride of place on his bed.
I need to do one for my little girl now but want to do it in a different pattern anyone got any suggestions please.
