Alphabet Baby Quilt - First 2017 Finish

I found this panel on sale after Christmas. It's designed to be a cloth book, but instead I fussy cut the squares, added some blocks of alphabet fabrics I had in my stash, then sashed it so it would be large enough. It measures apprx. 38" x 48". I found the multi-colored backing on sale for 50% off in the orphan corner of my LQS. The colors worked perfectly with the alphabet fabrics. I used Superior's King Tut "Shekels" variegated thread for the FMQ in a paisley design. It's one of my favorite quilting patterns. Just echo the paisley tear drop. Once you get into the rhythm, the quilting goes pretty fast & is easy. I used the same design in the border -- my first time to do it this way. I got the idea from Amanda Murphy's book, "Free-Motion Quilting Idea Book" (155 Mix & Match Designs). I plan to try some of her other designs. Thanks for taking a look.Alphabet Quilt - Jan. 2017 002.jpgAlphabet Quilt - Jan. 2017 003.jpgAlphabet Quilt - Jan. 2017 004.jpgAlphabet Quilt - Jan. 2017 005.jpgAlphabet Quilt - Jan. 2017 007.jpg
