My favorite is the anchor pillow cover. The lattice quilt is lookin' good, too. I made a small 4 block sampler of that one & decided I didn't want to make a larger quilt. I got too frustrated matching seams with the lattice. All your work is great. Keep on truckin'.

Those are great. You've obviously got talent, especially in design and color harmony. I wish I could do so well.

Yes, I must agree! You are already on your way! I love the pop of green in the purple top, awesome design of the tee shirt pillow, the movement of the anchor positioning, and the color placement in your sister's quilt! Can't wait to see what you come up with next! Isn't it so exciting, rewarding, and fun!

New to quilting. Here's what I've learned from you all!

    disappearing 9 patch.jpg

First, I wanted to prove to myself that I could do this. I bought some fat quarters from Joanns with my coupons and coupons from friends, not knowing how many or what I needed. A gal I work with offered her mom to do the actual quilting for me once I pieced the top.

Since I felt somewhat accomplished when it was done, my niece trusted me with her favorite tee shirt of my dad's, her grandfather and wanted a pillow. I had just discovered MSQC and their tutorials and was in love with the jelly roll race idea. I made my own version for the back and she thinks I did a good job recovering an old pillow with grandpa's tee shirt.

Having completed that, my daughter wanted her other pillow recovered so I decided to pick up her college colors and the anchor logo and work it into a cathedral window'ish pillow. First I cut the anchors wrong (I wanted them to be "level" in the diamond, not swishing back and forth as she calls them) , then I didn't have enough of the fabric to do what I really wanted so I managed to make this all work with what I had. I put buttons in my points to hid my mistakes and since I had rhinestones from her dance costumes, I put them in the center of the buttons too.

Now, with my confidence increasing, I spent a lot of time trying to choose a pattern for my sister's quilt, a Christmas gift, to go with the layer cake, Town Square, I purchased when it was the Daily Deal. I've watched the Lattice Quilt tutorial a thousand times and convinced myself it's the one. I've had a few issues with it, but it is finally coming together too. It may not get done by Christmas, but with both of my kids off to college these days I seem to have time at home to squeeze it in. If I don't make it by Christmas, I will wrap a bag of scraps and tell her its on the way.

I never in a million years thought that I could do any of this. Everyone here has been so helpful and encouraging. I hope to eventually make magnificent pieces similar to those I see here, but in the mean time- at least I'm on the learning curve!
