25 yrs ago I was selling real estate and thought I would make a memento quilt to mark that career. So I cut out all the little pieces with a cardboard template that I drew and cut the windows, doors, chimney's etc all with my trusty scissors. This quilt took me a really long time to make and I hand quilted it and put it in the linen closet never to be seen again...until today. I was looking for something and there it was, all brand new and shiney. I took it from the shelf and washed it and you know....I did a pretty good job, but I am better now that I have all these tech tools. LOLhouses.jpgBy the way, the Real Estate companies colors were purple and yellow...in case you were wondering why I would make a quilt in easter egg colors.

Re: 25 yrs ago, I made this house quilt
That's such a cute little quilt....love it!! I was telling a new quilter just last night about tracing around cardboard shapes and then cutting with scissors. We used to have a shortage of cereal boxes and tablet backs at our house because three of us were quilters!Last edited by Bubby; November 17, 2016, 04:36 AM.

Re: 25 yrs ago, I made this house quilt
I neglected to mention that I made two of these. One I gave to oldest DH . I asked her one time where it was and she said, oh, I think we left it in a rental house when we moved. Now, everytime she wants to beg something from me , I remember that and I say, maybe someday when you're settled. I do remember being pretty proud of the accomplishment, but I don't think I would ever tackle it again. As for shortages of cardboard...we always had beer boxes. lol...and I don't even drink...but all our friends did.success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiam
