    Finished my Scrap Attack quilt

I worked all summer using up all of my scraps, or about 95% of them! I had lots of charm packs, in every color imaginable, some 1930's, civil war repro, modern and contemporary, batiks--you name it. And this is what they look like all in one quilt. I think you will love it or hate it. The back is just an old white sheet, and I used every color of perle thread I could find for the quilting, which I did Big Stitch because there were so many seams to cross.

Well, I'm saying LOVE. But as much as I love the quilt, I am truly interested in the painting on the wall. It so resembles something that my FIL did - truly his style.

(Oh, and if YOU hate the quilt . . . )

I noticed that painting right away, too. What a wonderful way to use up all the scraps. A great accomplishment.

I am a hand quilter. Normal hand quilting involves making lots of tiny stitches with a very small needle. Big stitch is another type of hand quilting. It is much quicker to do than normal hand quilting. You use a bigger needle and fatter thread, usually perle cotton--about the thickness of 3 stands of embroidery floss--but the Perle is single strand and comes in los if colors. The big stitch method is basically a running or basting stitch. You can kind of see it on the back of my quilt. It is really fun to do and kind of addictive. You should try it!

I love scrappy quilts. And I especially love how your quilt incorporates more than just simple squares, and left over threads too!
