This is the quilt I'm making for new newest granddaughter. The top is done. It's called "Ocean Frolic" and was fun making. Besides applique, you need to make tons of yo-yos (these were no fun). I know it's bright - but don't kids like bright? Anyway - I have no idea how to quilt this since it's so busy. Would you just tie it? I really don't know.

I think it is beautiful! I would suggest wavy horizontal lines to suggest water.Donna

So adorable!
Before even reading the comments I thought it just needed wavy lines to mimic water. Also agree to not stitching over the applique.
Someday I will have grandchildren. Been thinking I should make up several quilts and put them away. Just in case when they do arrive I might be too old to make them then or not even be here!Vonnie

Oh Vonnie, don't even think about us getting too old to quilt. How old is that? My grandmother was 92 when she made a beautiful blue quilt and when I was selling real estate, a client gifted me the last quilt her mother had made and she was well into her 90'ssuccess is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiam

Oh that turned out a adorable! I am like the others wavy lines to mimic water. Or you could do the same affect vertically to simulate seaweed/kelp.Blogging ahead.....research in quilting and sewing with a dab of cooking/recipes too.
