    A finish for my DGD

I love today's Daily Deal, the Disney Princesses. In fact, I love it so much that when it was FIRST offered as a Daily Deal, I bought three (of course, only one got the DD price)! I'd been struggling with some gorgeous fabric and all sorts of ambitious ideas for a quilt for my DGD. When I saw that DD, I knew I had a winner.

By the time I arrived at my daughter's house, the quilt only needed binding, which I completed during my visit. It doesn't show well in the photo, but I used the Eleanor Burns Scallops, Waves and Vines template (one of my first ever M* purchases) to make a wavy edge. I love the way it turned out.

I showed the not-yet-finished quilt to my two-year old DGD, and she just loved it. "I don't want brown on my bed [her existing bedspread], I want PINK!" She told everyone that she had a quilt, and it was PINK! She begged me to finish the quilt because she wanted PINK on her bed. Believe me, I worked as quickly as possible, got it washed and dried, and went to put it on her bed.

As I did so, I thought I understood her to say, "Put it across." The next thing I knew, she was crying. "What's the matter, Sweetie?" I asked. "I want the CROSSES!"

And so, I turned the backing face up, and she now loves, loves, loves the crosses on her bed. It warms my heart more than you can imagine. And here's the thing: the cross fabric was one of the last remaining bolts at the late Hancock's fabric. I'm so glad I found it!

You didn't explain that the crosses were meant to be closer to her when she went to sleep? Great story!!

Great quilt! I love the scalloped edges they make it look a little fancier than a regular edge.

What a beautiful story. It made me smile. I bet she loves it so that she keeps it forever and when she is older and she thinks of quilts she will remember you giving her that lovely quilt.
