College quilt finally done

Finished the binding this afternoon. It needs to be washed and a label sewn on. It's a take on the Batiks Gone Wild pattern. My son changed it more to his liking.

You post was very fortuitous. I never knew you could do that and I had been wondering what color was going to dominate - black on green backing or green on black border. Now...woo!! I didn't have to choose.

You're right. Not as hard as it appears. I did the hand binding way on this quilt, but I do want to try it with machine binding one of these days. I'd really like to get the hang of machine binding. So many posters here do it and I've read everything they've posted about it. Just have to give it a whirl.

The original quilt is much smaller and the squares are all grouped together. I needed to make it bigger for the dorm bed so I figured I would just add squares.

Nope. He wanted to redesign. He added in all the black solid squares and added a second border - the black outside border.

This is the original quilt pattern. I still followed the pattern to make the squares, I just cut black squares of the same size to fill in.

Awesome. I love how the black squares are added. I just ordered the pattern from craftsy. I have some batiks that I have not planned anything yet, this is perfect.
