I like it! Jenny's new Hour Glass... BIG.

In the video discussion I said I would try it with Layer Cake Squares... It works great.

For a fast quilt... Baby, I like it!

For anyone wondering.. the fabrics are By Sandy Gervias, "Reindeer Games".... long gone.

I really liked this one. Too bad it wasn't out last year when I made an hourglass quilt the old way. The shortcuts would have come in handy! Does anyone know the size of one finished block, with 4 HG squares?

      It should be 12.5.

So if the original pattern with charm squares calls for 4 packages of charms, would one layer cake make this quilt approx. the same size?

It would be the same amount of fabric involved. Logic says it would be approximately the same size, but sometimes my logic is a little off.

Oh I like that big! On facebook someone used this technique with a 9 patch and it was really cool.
Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.

Me too! LOL - that's exactly why I asked! It makes sense in my mind, but sometimes in practice...

I, too, wondered about making this with Layer Cake squares. I've made several quilts with HSTs using Jenny 's old method, which would be an older tutorial. This one makes it look easier & quicker.

So what was the old method.
