When life throws you scraps........ :(

Hi friends, as seen by the title life has been throwing scraps......and I made a quilt.
I am again very sad.......my dear dad was diagnosed with cancer last week.....we had the first diagnose a week ago but after the meeting with the doctor last thursday we learned he has 2 different types of cancer, he has kidney cancer and prostat cancer (spelling?)

Today in church lots of people asked me and that made me grateful and sad at the same time. I love my dad so much and he is still so fit and wonderful and just a great guy, so we are going through heavy times again. My mom is so sweet as well, she is holding up for my dad but I can see she is hurt......I have great parents and I can't miss one of them
We are waiting for a date to plan surgery on my dad, first stepp will be remove the kidney, and I hope we will learn more soon, now we know he has this tumor I am only thinking IT NEEDS TO GO!!!!

Anyway, I was very sad and started to clean my sewing room, and came across a old UFO.....and I finished it. I made part of this top on my old machine so I had to square some block down a bit, but it worked out fine in the end. It is a fun patternd from MSQC and I made blocks till the blue fabric scrap I used was all gone. This is the result.

Hope you are all fine and hope you have a great sunday!!!

Oh Klasien I am so sorry about your father. Hopefully he can have that surgery very soon and that will take care of the tumor. On the other hand, do not be discouraged about the prostrate cancer--amazingly in the U.S. at least it seems quite common to appear in men after age 55. Usually it is extremely slow growing and the doctors keep tabs on it through regular lab tests called PSA which churns out a number and the doctors keep a running tab of the PSA results to see if they are going up or down. My FIL lived for 25 years after his prostrate cancer diagnosis and did not need surgery or medication. I know of at least 15 other men personally who are walking around with it and living completely normal lives. Please keep us posted!

Will send up prayers for your dad, you, & the family. If the cancer is localized in his kidney, chances are they can get it all when they remove his kidney. As has been mentioned, prostate cancer often is very slow growing; hopefully he'll live a long time yet. Please advise him to not be treated with radioactive beads. A friend of ours had that, & he developed leukemia & died a few wks. later. God bless.
