    Spiral Lone Star

Karen found this Lone Star picture on Pintrest. No pattern available, taught through a workshop at some LQS. It looked overwhelming at first, then I figured out how to make the strips and sew the points to make the colors spin. Once I figured it out, I had to make it! So, instead of sleeping, I built my star. Finished it off with borders today. Thinking I want to enlarge it to make it a bed quilt, if I can find more of this fabric or something compatible. It's Patrick Lose Sunstreaks, his other lines (Basically Patrick) will probably work, and I have lots of that collection.

Thinking I'm now in love with Lone Star quilts!

Hey, it matches my tie dye Hamilton shirt!

      Absolutely stunning!

Which method are you using for your lone stars? I love them, but have been intimidated with Y seams, etc.

I have been looking at the one on Moda's site for strip piecing, sort of similar to a bargello. http://www.modabakeshop.com/2015/04/...tar-quilt.html

It is strip pieced. Took 2-1/2 hours from piecing the strips to building the 8 points. No Y seams. I used that same method as the Moda one, just used 4 basic pieces, not 5.

Turned out great and the black really makes that star stand out well.

I am very impressed, too. I managed to cut out 6 Farmgirl blocks, no sewing, just cut out.
I did do some closet rearranging, too.

                            Gorgeous. It looks fantastic.

The pattern is available in Jan Krentz book, which is very well written.
