Rolling Waves aka The Green Monster

I finished this one yesterday. It's a 40th birthday gift for my dear friend Matthew. He was my lifeline by way of late night phone calls during my father's illness and passing last year. He's totally worth all 200 hours that I spent cutting, piecing, and quilting this beast, and he is a lover of green like me. I can't wait to give it to him tonight at his party, and to see him and my former bandmates together again.

A little inside joke between me and the band, "be brave" meant to call in sick for work after playing at the bar until 4am, then continuing to drink and hang together all the next day. Oh, to be young (and dumb) again.

It's really three blocks, all nine-patches and variations of nine-patches. There are just so many of them. Over 1,600, if I remember correctly.

More Free, Easy Bed Sized Quilt Patterns from McCall's Quilting!

eta: 1,600 pieces, not nine-patches. That would be insane.

                            Awesome quilt!
I saw that pattern in a magazine some time ago....dogeared the page to go back to b ut never did. Still want to try the pattern....may do a small lap quilt.
You are so lucky to have such a good friend. Wish I had had someone like that when I went through a tough time last year.
I had family/ friends there but needed someone who understood my true circumstances.
