I made a quick call to my LQS for some advice about quilting with silk and she said to just go with it. Use a fine needle, some silk thread and everything should be fine. So I just dove in and had a go.
It was the first time I've done triangles but I bought a nifty triangle-in-square template and they seem to have turned out OK. Only problem is, even with the very minimum of handling, they fray and awful lot. Here's my first block:

See - frayapaloosa!
So I braved the snow and took it to my LQS to see if they had any ideas. After a lot of debate about spray starch and overlocking Kim suggested trying a pinking blade in my rotary cutter. It worked a charm. No fraying and with no extra work! Just my cup of tea.

Aren't they neat? The wavy lines are taking a little getting used to when you need to be accurate but I think I'm getting the hang of them. Here are the fronts of the blocks. There are a couple of miss-matched seams but I'm going to use the fast horse rule.
