Finally - Fun Dresden Plate and Breakfast at Tiffanys

The Breakfast at Tiffanys was from a charm pack I really wasn't that fond of so it's going to be a gift. All it took was 1 charm pack for the inside blocks and 3/4 of a yard of fabric for the borders. It only took 3 1/2 hours to get it sewn together and got the idea off someone's blog. Where the colors look kind of orangy, they are more pinky.

The Dresden Flowers I had so much fun with! I put puffy batting in the center of the flowers and made the leaves double so they won't fray. And, they are only sewn down at the part where they come out from the stems. Thinking about putting a ladybug or two behind a leaf here and there. The background of the wall hanging is a pretty yellow and the grass is a pretty green. I need a better camera for color purposes! Of course, it could be the camera lady taking the photos!

    Hugs,

Your dresden plates are so pretty, made me think of cornflowers or chicory. Making them into flowers is a great idea, I'm sure I've seen that before but yours just struck me right.

Love your dresden flowers Trish. Did you hand sew it down?

Oh Trish! How I adore these. Yes, I agree with our Newbquilter; reminds me of cornflowers and chicory - both of which are in my top ten favorite flowers.

The only thing I machine pieced was the blades of the flowers together. Everything else is appliqued down. I think that's why I had so much fun with it, I love applique. I am currently looking for a block of the month that just grabs me. I think the BOM's are pricey so maybe just thinking of buying the pattern for one.

I got really excited when I read your title, because I thought you'd made dresden plates WITH Breakfast at Tiffany's...and I've been working on a BaT Dresden plate quilt for quite some time. So I was wrong, but I'm still excited because I love the little quilt and your dresdens look great!

Actually, Jenny showed a video with the plate as a flower. She used one flower and then used rickrack as a stem. The leaves were an extra petal or two. Hers turned out really cute. Thanks Jenny - I had fun making mine!
