A Scrappy Wallhanging (Bonnie Hunter Design)

If you haven't been over to Quiltville you need to go take a look at all these free great patterns for scraps (right sidebar of her site).... I became addicted last year as a new quilter and was fortunate enough to attend one of Bonnie's workshops and lectures last month.

Here is the wallhanging I finished yesterday that came out of the workshop:

Things I learned - contrast matters, even in scrap quilting. That top house is awful. I still think it is a cutsey scrappy thing to have hanging around my sewing room and it taught me a bunch of useful techniques. Had to share!

Very nice Katie, I love Bonnie's website, you are so fortunate to be able to go to a workshop with her, I am envious.

Very colorful and what a lot of great lessons learned in one little wall hanging. Nice addition to your quilting room!

I looked on the website, what exact pattern was this, or did you just make it yourself? If so.... I would love to have some basic dimensions. I just went through my extra fabric and I have TONS of strips of different widths that I would like to actually DO something with...

The pattern for this one isn't available on her website or in any of her books. It is a combination of techniques so you can learn a bunch of things at the same time. She said she only offered the pattern in her workshop.

The border pieces (string blocks) do have a tutorial on Bonnie's site though: String Block Tutorial

The pieced letters are from a book that Bonnie helped publish with her friend Tonya - Word Play Quilts

So cute, almost enough to make me get up and walk t the sewing room. But since I got back to Monterrey yesterday and just tossed all the fabric I brought back on the bed it really needs cleaning up. Just don't feel like doing that. YET.
