Quilts for Kids, Girl's quilt done!

Sewed into the wee hours last night to finish the binding. Did it by machine again this time. Did loop-de-loop FMQ, and I encourage everyone who hasn't tried it to give it a shot. I found it easy and fun.

Love it Deb! What girly does not like butterflies? I am going to have to try the loops on my next quilt.

Very nice, I am working on a Disappearing 9 Patch for Quilts for Kids, all layered and need to take a deep breath and go for the FMQ.

Very pretty quilt, and great job on the loop de loop FMQ! I just finished a quilt with loop de loop. Will post once the binding is all sewn down (that is my least favorite part of making a quilt).

Very pretty quilt. But what is loop de loop FMQ? don't understand that, since I'm not American. FMQ stands for free motion quilting I think but loop de loop?????

Mama, usually in FMQ you meander or stipple, without crossing over your stitch lines. A "loop de loop" FMQ is a series of loops and circles where you cross over your stitch line all the time, making the shapes. It's really easy to do, easier than meandering. I like big quilting patterns that fill the space in a reasonable amount of time. I've seen tiny stippling and it's beautiful, but I have no interest in doing it. The looping pattern went quickly and was really fun!

I'm working on another quilt now, I think I will do a little FMQ on some practices pieces and see where it takes me. Keep you fingers crossed.

so it is ok to cross over when you FMQ? Good to know, I got the impression that crossing over the stitch line was one of the seven deadly sins..thats one of the reasons I have been stressed about trying it.

I think I need to keep reminding myself to just relax about it and have fun....oh well, going to do that today for Memorial Day!
