From Don-isewman----A quilt made in 1934

This is a quilt I lady friend GAVE ME. She cut the pieces using sandpaper hexes. She cut these pieces out in 1934. She gave me this top, and I hand quilted each of these hex's. My sewing group in Moline, Ill. Roughly counted anywhere from 3,000-3,500 hex's. This lady today, will be 90 yrs, this year.[ATTACH=CONFIG]71175[ATTACH]


Name of quilt--GFGarden. This quilt, I hand quilted, each of the hex's with in 8-9months.

Beautiful quilt, so glad it has stood the test of time. Are you going to put a label on it commemorating the circa and the quilters?

Really lovely, and it has a story. Did she buy the fabric new? Or is it from articles of clothing or other family fabric? That would be interesting to note. Wow talk about UFO's. You did a beautiful job quilting, Thanks for sharing.

Wow!! Precious piece of artwork. I wonder where this dear lady was back in 1934 cutting these hexies. I picture her at a big timber table in a kitchen cutting these out. These sort of stories really fascinate me. You've done a great job on this.
