    progress

    1a.jpg

progress so far. Want to do a little quilting to hold it all together. I have some variegated thread that I am going to use in the water to make it shimmer.
Almost messed up. I had to order the outside wood grain fabric, and I ordered 1 yard not thinking it was directional. I managed to just eke out the correct length across the top and bottom. I really wanted those corners to be mitered. DH couldn't understand why I couldn't use something from one of the many stores we went to , to find the perfect wood grain. Silly man!! So glad I held out and ordered what I wanted.
Going to bind it with the maroon fabric from the inner border I think.

Wow!! I love it. The wood grain you choose sure does frame it nicely. HEHE men they never understand why we do what we do. But yet they may go to 20 stores when in search of the perfect tool. Some shimmer in the water is going to be beautiful

You pieced all of that together? Or appliqued it? Wow! Amazing!

actually those are my socks LOL!!
I have been working on FMQ on this thing. Working pretty well, but I am using threads to match the top and getting some dots on the back. Not tooo bad, but there all the same. I haven't done much FMQ before, so this is a challenge. My new Brother Dream Creator is working great for the FMQ.

It is all fusible applique. Had a pattern, traced shape on fusible web paper side, ironed that on back of fabric, cut shape out of fabric and then fused in place on background. It really was easier than I thought it would be. Kinda tedious, but also fun.

That looks fabulous. I'm sure many hours went into this. Fully understand the pursuit of the ultimate wood grain fabric, too.
                    Well done.

                      It's coming out beautiful!

Did your pattern come with the seam allowences, or rather overlap lines. I'm working on a simple one and I have to trace it and add them. I can't imagine doing that with yours.

nope, no overlap lines. just a big drawing of the picture. I just had to figure out where it would be overlapped and I just rounded off that side. That took some getting used to. At first I wanted to cut the shape exactly.

Gorgeous. Maybe in the future I will be brave enough to do a landscape. Thanks for the inspiration!
