                  Re: Next stop....borders!

Thanks for all your kind comments. This is the very first thing I have ever appliqued. It has taught me how to speak in Pirate.

Cathryn, when I did those vines, I just did the blanket stitch, as that is what I did around everything else. Well, yesterday while I was finishing all the stitching around the pieces, I got to another piece that the blanket stitch just would not work on, so I took it upon myself to just straight stitch just inside the edges and it looks fine. I wish I'd have done that w/the vines because it would have looked better. I found out it is not fun to rip out the blanket stitch on applique, so I will leave it. If I didn't, I'd be speaking advanced Pirate!!

I'm not decided yet if it still is blah!!! I will admit at Sew Expo, I stupidly fell in love w/an applique picture of hibiscus and bought it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Should have looked at the directions and pattern first, because I did last night and I probably would not have bought it. While this one is cutesy, the other is beautiful.

And just so I can always think of you, this scarecrow might remind blind forever!!!

Ah, me fellow Pirate buddy, me thinks it's looks absolutely wonderful. You sure could have fooled me that this was your first applique project. Ye done good mate! And you better put on the eyes, so he doesn't look like a pirate.
