Jelly roll and boarder made on the fly. First "real". Quilt

This was my first quilt made after actually watching a tutorial. The first quilt I made was a few years back and I had no idea what I was doing. I made every conceivable mistake a new quilter could make beginning with NOT getting instruction and feedback. Still a good lesson in itself. I had the jellyroll quilt professionally quilted but felt I lost out on an important part of the process so I'm learning to hand bind and free motion quilt too. Hope you enjoy this newbies post and picture.

Re: Jelly roll and boarder made on the fly. First "real". Quilt

I LOVE it! Makes me think of the tropics, and SUMMER! I always seem to migrate to these colors in winter, as well.
I believe you're off to a stellar start!

On a side note, when I started a couple of years ago, I was completely intimidated with hand binding techniques. I had a bunch of off-cuts, and early starts at piecing...So I set out, with a yard or two of InsulBrite, and made a ton of funky pot-holders! This really helped me gain confidence with hand binding, and I was utilizing the fabric I had tossed off to the side!
It was a great, and inexpensive way to get my 'bearings'.
Funny. One potholder I held on to, I still consider my 'best' quilt to date!
I really need to get off the exclamation point.
It may give people the idea that I'm bright and cheerful all the time....
