    X Blocks Quilt Top

I made a top using the X Blocks ruler. Basically you make a 9 patch and cut it wonky with the ruler. All the fabric except for the white was hand dyed by me. I am waiting on fabric for the borders.

My husband calls it the bow-tie quilt. Can you see why?

I was looking on line at the book, but can't tell what is inside it. If you get a chance, could you look at your book to see if you think it is worth buying? (They say, any dog you pay money for is a good dog. I guess you could say, any book you pay money for is a good book!)

I have been meaning to buy the X-blocks ruler. How big is your ruler and what is the size of the final block?
What did you do with the leftover slivers? Thank you.

That's pretty! All the colors going different directions reminds me of looking in to a box of broken crayons.

Really pretty. Colors are coordinated to their locations as well. Is this from a pattern with the ruler? Or could this be done with a colorful jellyroll maybe?

That is an amazing quilt. I hope I can do one like it someday.

PS: Maybe Jenny can do a tutorial on this pattern someday soon. PLEASE!

I bought the 7 1/2 inch ruler. It makes a 7 1/2 inch block. If I had to do it over again, I'd buy the 6 1/2 inch ruler. For my ruler, you cut your strips 3 3/4 inch, which means you cannot use Jelly Rolls. I don't know the size for the smaller ruler, but I do think it uses 2.5 inch strips which is a Jelly roll.

I saved the left overs, like they say to do. This afternoon, I sewed some together, but I didn't like the results. You would need to square up each rectangle to what size I don't know. I am going to throw them away. I think they say to save them just so you wouldn't know there was a lot of waste.

The ruler comes with two patterns of which this is one. I think if you buy the 6 1/2 inch ruler, you can use a Jelly Roll. I had to use 3 3/4 inch strips for my 7 1/2 inch ruler.
