My design wall and update on my dad!

I know I have posted this on FB and some of you have seen this, but I am SO happy with my new design wall that I need to post it here as well.
Jan and I made this yesterday, it is so easy and so much fun to make, we worked on it for about two hours.
I had this tutorial for over a year in my favorites and now I have it in my sewingroom!!
Looks really nice and it works great!

For those of you who want one as well, I will put the link to the tutorial here.
Jan and I could not find the tape overhere, so we used kit instead, that worked perfect!

Hope you like it as much as I do!

The Quilting Edge: Duct Tape......Who Knew!!!!/Design Wall Tutorial

My dad is back home from the hospital, the surgery went well and he is glad it is over. He is still in a lot of pain, so he needs to keep calm for a while. Next wednesday he needs to go back to the hospital for more x-rays, it takes a lot from my parents, they are very healthy and young hearted people, this takes its toll.....my mom will be 80 within a few weeks, and my dad turned 80 a couple of monts ago....
My dad thanks eachand every one of you for your sweet words, thoughts and prayers!!!

This is a wonderful design wall!! I wish I had room for that . Mine is portable I can hang when I need and for smaller projects I have a piece of foam core board 18 x 24 covered with fleece that can sit in the chair next to me.

Glad your Dad is doing good and is home from the hospital. You are so lucky to have both parents still alive and in good health. I so wish my mom were still here I miss her every day and its been 20 years.

That looks great. I just need to have a blank wall. I have to figure out how to do a portable version

I don't have space for a design wall. Like Jenny, I use the floor. We have carpeting in our fam. rm.; I have a large open space where I lay out my quilts. No pets or gr. kids to interfere. Since we don't really use the FR much, I've taken it over for my cutting table. I can spread fabrics out on the back of the couch. Your design wall looks terrific. JCY

This is really neat and something we could do; IF I had a wall to put it on. Right now I use spare queen size beds or the floor. I just bought a Fons and Porter DW, but haven't tried it yet. I'm happy to hear that your Dad is doing well too. Awesome!

This is so much nicer than the large piece of flannel I have stapled to my wall. Thanks so much for the post. This is going to be the next project for my sewing room.
Glad to hear your Dad is better !!

Keeping your family, especially your dad, in my prayers. Hoping the pain will be gone soon. Give him extra hugs from all of us!

A bad day in the sewing room is better than a good day at the office.

Klasien, this looks wonderful! I need to make a portable design wall and can fold and go behind a door when not in use. The command hooks/tape is such a good idea. This will add a new dimension to your quiltmaking. Glad to hear your Dad is doing well. This has been a real ordeal for him.

Klasien - So glad for the good update on your dad. Give him a hug for all of us.
I love your design wall and I'm trying to figure out whick kind would work well for me since I don't have a wall but a huge set of sliding doors. This might work if I could just fold it away and not hang it up. Question: can I just use the cheap batting for this or do I need to use the cotton - warm and natural or whatever??? Does cheap flannel work as well as the batting? I'm just trying to save a few bucks and batting is expensive. Thanks. - Lilly

                        I used very cheap fleece!
One blanket for each board, so the fleece is double.
My wall is about 80" by 80" ......for us two meter by two meter!
It ain't no sin to be glad you're alive!
