    My afghan "holiday" crochet project

This isn't at all quilt related, so I hope you'll forgive me for posting it.

I posted before going away that I was looking for a crochet holiday project. I started on an afghan and away I went. Boy had I forgotten how long it takes to crochet! I've barely started the afghan and that's after spending quite a few hours on it (by the telly at home and then on the plane and by the pool). Good thing I really like doing it! I made it quite wide, as I want it to cover me on the sofa in the winter. (SOME winter, not this one apparantly!) The yarn is 70% wool and 30% err some polyester stuff? I forget. Man (or possibly woman) made material.

The blue is more of an oily colour (more turqoise) in RL.

Beautiful work. I should learn to do crocheting or knitting because it's something to keep me entertained instead of being in front of the sewing machine :-)

We used to be able to knit/crochet at work. Then we got a boss who had a hair up his ass and decided it would cause us to get carpul tunnel!!! Anyway, there went knitting/crocheting at work and I have not done it since! I had just learned to knit at the time time and really enjoyed it too.

Pretty afghan. I like the colors.

I have to laugh because before quilting all I did was crochet, and mostly afghans. I did baby hats for the NICU and made a couple baby afghans for them as well as baby sets for gifts. I always thought. I got so much done and made so many afghans. Well, I did but you can get way more done with sewing. Of couse if you stick to it and not prcrastinate.

I need to do more crocheting. It is much easier to take along when you need something to work on

I like your pattern and the colors you are using! I used to crochet a lot - even did the doilies, etc that were popular in the late 80s as well as some afghans. I should get a crochet project going for when we are watching tv. I haven't had a crochet project going since I found quilting.

Very nice, love the colors. I like to crochet now and then, for me it's relaxing.

Thanks for posting a pic..I love crocheting. My daughter go married in August of 2008. I knew money was going to be tight for Christmas so right after the wedding I started making everyone an afghan. I made 7 full size afghans that year for gifts. I'm working on one now that I just love. It's different cause you finish off each row so you always have the front facing you.nits really a pretty pattern and lots of fun.
Make sure you post a pic when it's done. It's ok if it's not quilting..we love to see it all!

Considering how expensive yarn can be I'm not sure I would save that much money, not to mention not being able to do them all that fast. Amazing! I'd love to see the one you are working on now.

very pretty! I learned to knit but can only to a single crochet. I have a couple of knitting projects started, but have been reading instead of knitting.

The one you're working on takes more time to do but comes out beautiful when it's done? The year I made them for gifts I needed a quick pattern, so most of them were done in this pattern, just different colors. Really quick pattern and looks nice so it was a bonus for me. This is the one I am working on now. I am doing it in a dark sage for a friend that really likes green. This one is taking a little longer but is really fun to work on. image.jpg
There is no way I could get more than one of these done. I like to work on it at night when I have no other handwork to do on a quilt.
