Update new tute different way - it works great

I really liked the posting I was seeing for this quilt so had to go and try what we talked about in the prior post. It worked great. Was easy. Cutting, arranging, sewing rows, went really smooth. My only warning is be very careful on keeping things in order. Fabric is Somerset by E. Vine. / Benartex. 2 jelly rolls

Here are a couple pics. No where near done, but got to go out on check on my daughters doggies

Also, i included a pic of my helper today, my granddaughter Lillian

Hahaha. I just noticed I need to move those striped ones a bit. They are clumped together. Love the camera

Thank you all. I did this with all 5 inch x 2.5 inch from the jelly rolls. Did need the 2.5 square at the ends of every other row. Will only need sashing on outside. Love it

Oh and all that hair is because she has very curley hair-ringlets actually. But her mom used the flat iron because Lily wanted straight hair. It just does not really want to stay straight so it starts poofing (thats what Lily calls it)

Too bad I already finished my quilt the other way. Great idea. I did mine by sewing charms on a long strip then cutting them apart and then in half. When I do one with jelly rolls I will try this way.

Thanks Karen for trying this way out. It looks really great!

I thought you were going to do a couple of practice pieces, not a whole quilt. lol

No, i have so many precuts i knew this would be an easy one, or at least hoped it would be. And its great because it will now be a wedding gift for a friends son, who is getting married in April. I had been slacking and really needed to get one started.

                      Thanks Jenny!

And thanks forum for giving me the push I needed

I was also thinking that using a layer cake you could cut in half and sew a 2 1/2" strip to one long side of each piece, then cut in 4 2-1/2" pieces. Hope that makes sense.
