    Underground Railroad Bed Runner

We're about to sandwich and start quilting but I simply couldn't resist showing off the Underground Railroad Sampler blocks we sashed and are using as a runner on our bed. The entire thing will be bound with the same fabric as the sashing to "finish" the outside edges. I'll probably just SITD around the blocks because they are only 6" in diameter and this thing won't be subject to heavy use/abuse like a traditional quilt might.

A huge THANK YOU!!! goes to Ginny K. (GinnyKNC) for helping us with the embroidery on the nameplate block. She did a spectacular job and this runner wouldn't have happened without her.

Here it is at about 95% complete. Sorry for the poor camera angles, my bedroom is so small that you can't get far enough away to frame up a good shot.

Those are wonderful blocks. This bed runner is amazing. The two of you should be very proud. Looking forward to seeing it quilted.

That is great, Ryan! Did you quilt the king size whole cloth bedspread underneath? It is really pretty!

Great job! I should make a couple bed runners. I usually just lay an extra quilt folded across the bottom of the bed to keep my feet warmer.

No, that was part of the compromise of what we were making.

Tabatha: I want to make a quilt for our kind sized bed.

                        Me: No.

                        Tabatha: Please....

Me: Compromise. I'll help you make a bed runner and coordinating curtain valances and you can buy a new bedspread.

Tabatha: Oh Ryan, you are so handsome and strong and talented. [...or something like that.]
