    Grand baby's quilt

Thanks for all who encouraged me to do the scalloped border, I love it! I've already mailed this quilt out. I have to say though I should have listened to another quilter. The white material is a tone on tone white. The squares are flannel. I was given the white material and cautioned that is was impossible to FMQ on. Me being me thought surely it was just her machine.... Wrong it truly would not take a stitch! Weirdest thing I've ever encountered. After I washed it I realized I could have just hand quilted that part but I just stitched in ditch it's a tiny bit puffy but not noticeable where it bugs me enough to scratch the whole quilt. I'm always over critical. I do love this quilt.
    Finished size : 37x48
Materials: welcome baby flannel charm pack
Cotton yardage white and yellow , purple on the back
    Double cotton batting.
    Thanks for looking

However, I have never heard of fabric you can't sew on....what did it do?

Love the pastels and the scalloped border too! What kind of fabric could not be quilted?

I, too, am wondering about the fabric that wouldn't take a stitch. I use tone-on-tone fabric all the time as I prefer that to pure white. I have never had a problem. One thing I don't think I'd ever do is to mix flannel with a cotton fabric. I guess you can, but I wouldn't have.

P.S. The quilt is adorable! I have never attempted scalloped borders. Yours is perfect!!

              Re: Grand baby's quilt

The fabric that would not quilt is 100% cotton white on white fabric. I sew with white on white all the time too. I used a non flannel on the back so that had no bearing on the issue. I mix flannel all the time with regular cotton. Every other fabric I could FMQ on. It will take a straight stitch and sews beautiful but the minute I tried to FMQ it woul take two stitches and skip 6 then take two and skip. I tried changing my needle, tension, bobbin, retreaded, two different brands of thread.... That was all I was willing to try before I said enough. Was really bizzare, never happened to me before.
Thanks for the compliments, I used the quilt in a day wave scallop border tool, that made it so easy

That is just darling. I love the scalloped border. Someday I will get brave and try to do one myself.

That is so pretty....love the pastels. I have the template for the scallops but haven't tried it yet, I guess I'm afraid I'll mess up the entire border.
