    Big Star Quilt Top Finished

I finished a Big Star quilt top. I started to make it 3 x 3, but was amazed at the size that would be. I settled on 2 x 3. I used the RJR layer cake called Lovely. It had been a DD one time, and I ordered a second one because you need two of each fabrics to make it. Jenny did a video using this fabric, although I forget when one that was. I have enough to probably make that one, too. My next project, however, is going to be a Pineapple quilt using the fabric I dyed.

Just as an aside, I had been very concerned about the bias edges using Jenny's HST method. I had to use her method because I wasn't using yardage that would have allowed me to make them the conventional way. Like was suggested, I heavily starched it with Best Press. I squared each HST using my June Tailor HST ruler, and I was so pleased that each patch was exactly the same size making it a breeze to put together.

Your star quilt is beautiful! I thought I would be sick of the Lovely fabric line after doing my Iron Quilter quilt with it, but I just ordered some more of it today with the DD! And I too was leery of the bias HSTs, but they are really pretty easy to manage if you treat them carefully!

Pretty! Those stars make a pretty quick top since they are so big. Glad the bias behaved for you.

Beautifully done! I'm dying to make that pattern...I will be making quilts for all of my kids for Christmas this year, and my DS and DIL picked out the Big Star pattern. I hope it turns out as beatiful as yours did
