Scrappy Bargello - Bargello part done :)

Some of you helped me out with my little (mis)adventures with making my scrappy bargello. Well, it is all sewn together and just needs the borders... I was going to do a friendship braid for the borders and quite honestly - I just don't have it in me! The flimsy measures 99" x 100" . . . I found the border material and backing online after striking out at a couple of LQSs. So it is going to be a couple weeks before this baby finds its way to my bed haha Here it is!

The border and binding is going to be a very dark (almost black) blue batik.

I was trying to figure out how many 2 1/2" x 16" there are in this quilt..... I think it is around 700!! All of the material is batik and they are 'scraps' from quilts I have made.

That is just too cool looking! Thank goodness for strip quilting because sewing all those little squares individually would make a person crazy.

Thank you everyone for the comments! This really didn't take as long as you might think, thanks to as Karen mentioned the wonders of strip piecing! The pattern is here Quiltville's Quips & Snips!!: Scrappy Bargello!. I had some 'issues' so mine doesn't look like Bonnie's! haha What I learned is that if you do the math right (I got lucky!) you can turn those panels and get MANY different looks! I will say this, it is a little tedious and if you get bored quickly... this might not be the pattern for you. Also, I recommend not putting this aside for any amount of time! If your seams are inconsistant you will end up with major elemental design changes!! Which in the end, might not be so bad but figuring it out might cause a few grey hairs!!! LOL

I started this quilt and have about 10 squares done... you've encouraged me to get back to it.... stopped for a while for the dryer sheet quilts... but I don't recommend that.. tons of fun, but the quilting was a bit of a challenge with that layer.. I think I would do that again but NOT use the sheets.. just strip piece and cut to consistant size...
