    A Birthday Gift.

Hello all my quilting buddies. Hope this note finds you all well. Today would have been my mothers birthday and I was looking at a napkin holder that my oldest brother made her a couple years before she passed. I know this has nothing to do with sewing but my mom is the one who taught me how to sew.I can't tell you how much I miss her every day. She has been gone for 7 years now and when she passed I asked my brother if I could have this gift he had given her on her birthday because she loved it so and so do I.The pictures don't show the perfection in which he put this together. Kinda like piecing a quilt. That is why I like it so much. Anyway;yall have a nice afternoon and enjoy the pictures. Hugs

Rhonda-----thanks for sharing your pictures! Your brother did a great job. What a fantastic way to remember your mom...every time you look at it! Lovely! Perhaps if you don't use it to hold napkins, you could incorporate it into your sewing room to hold files of patterns, etc. I would want it where I could see it often, if not daily! Happy Birthday, Rhonda's mom! Sweet memory--thanks for sharing. SuzyQue

Hi Rhonda, my mother has been gone for five years and I completely understand your feelings. I miss her more and more.... never less. There are things I want to share with her every day..... my latest quilt.... or a "do you remember" moment.... just so many things. The napkin holder is truly lovely... thank you for sharing the photos....

What an artist your brother is. This is just beautiful. What a wonderful memento to have.My Mom would have been 93 last December if she had lived. I lost her at age 73. I still miss her and we didn't see eye to eye all of the time. But I still miss her. You are very lucky to have this and your brother to talk to. Hugs, Jan

Rhonda what a beautiful piece of woodworking and memory of your Mother! Your brother must have put alot of love into this as it is truly a work of art. I could see that as an applique block! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Rhonda, This is beautiful. I don't blame you for wanting to keep it. I kept several things of my Mothers just because it reminded me of her, her favorite blouse, her crochet needles, all the little notes she wrote me......nothing quilte like a Mother. Have a good day!!
