Beautiful. I'd be afraid to use them!

Love them! The paisley one is really cool. Although I love them both.
Life is too short not to quilt with someone you love.

They're beautiful -- where did you find the pattern?

I saw the series of you tube videos by harwoodpodcast and loved them so much I did a google search and bought the pattern (can't remember exactly where).

The paisley one is for a friend - he picked out the fabric and wants to place these as display items on his sideboard, I doubt if he'll ever use them as actual placemats.

These are sew easy - I'm starting some Christmas ones this week.

They're both beautiful. I am hoping to do some next week for Christmas presents.

                          Re: Just finished these Placemats

How did you finish the edges....bias tape or sewed right sides together and turned out?
I know Jenny has a fabulous video on how to make great bias tape from fabric from just 1/2 yrd of fabric. I will need to spend some time perfecting that one I can tell you.
I have considered using a good cotton sateen flat sheet (fairly inexpensive) for my placemats as the fabric will take the laundering that everyday mats go through.
What did you use for batting? I had considered fleece as it, again, will take the abuse from the laundry and I don't want my placemats fluffy.
                          Sometimes I wake up Grumpy!
Other times I just let HIM sleep.

                            Racing Nan -
The instructions for this one is to do the piecing directly onto muslin (I used warm and natural batting), then put right sides together and turn inside out. I am finding that the center portion is getting a bit poofy after I've put 2 rows of top stitching along the edge and did stitch in the ditch around the center rectangle. I'm working on making the process better - maybe not only using 505 spray, but doing some pinning along the way.
