    DWR...it was worth it!

Yep...I was starting to wonder if it was worth it because I was getting pretty tired of it after two months. 6 hours of cutting, 89 hours of piecing and 31 hours of FMQ and 4 hours of binding. And just imagine if someone offers me $100 for it. lol Anyway, I'm fairly happy with the results although I was really hoping this one would be the one that finally I could say turned out perfect with no mistakes. Dream on Terry. This one measures 120 square. dwr1.jpg dwr2.jpgT dwr3.jpg

Ok, you are definitely the “git ‘er done” queen! Most people take DECADES to complete their DWR! This is just beautiful! I love the colors and the quilting is divine! Great job! And where to you find batting big enough for a quilt that size? It is truly amazing!

Wonderful quilt. So happy to see the title of your post saying it was worth it. Great to be happy with a quilt when it’s done.

                  Terry,

That is gorgeous! Many quilters never accomplish this design. You have certainly done it and should be very proud.

Terry, come on down to my house, bring a big stick and get me motivated to make one~ I have the templates a box full of 30s fabrics and background. It just needs someone to do it! lol

                    Yours is beautiful!

Katrina. if you have the templates the problem is solved. I haven't ever been able to convince myself to afford them so I trace them, cut them from cardboard and then trim until I get a good fit. This is my forth one and each time I have increased the number of rings . This is as big as I ever want to make a quilt.

I had to piece one side. My batting roll was 96 inches so I added a strip down the side.

Your quilt is beautiful. I just love blues and greens together - the colours of nature.

My mother was an artist, but it was from my father that I learned that to understand colour, all we need to do is look at nature. It's so true. The colours in bromeliads or proteas, for example, are colours people are sometimes nervous about putting together, but there they are, teaching us everything we need to know about colour, without ever reading a book about colour theory. And the extraordinary colours in birds - like our extraordinary lilac-breasted roller.
