    Milestone quilt

This is a Robert Kaufman milestone quilt panel. DD and SIL chose a woodland animals nursery theme, so I decided (with DD's approval) to make this little quilt. The way it works is you take a succession of digital photos of your little one lying on the leaves, and then digitally "draw" a circle around the correct number and day/week/month, so you can see baby's growth over time. I did some free-motion, some echo, and some straight-line quilting. Lots of mistakes, but I was in a rush to complete it before the shower, which was last Saturday. I used a fusible batting, which I don't think I'll do again for anything larger than placemats. It was quite stiff, and not so easy to quilt. Happily, DD and SIL love it.

That's a cute one! I've seen them with a head flower or leaves wreath to put down on the number. Wouldn't be to late to make one. I'm in a baby's first birthday mood right now. 👶
