    My first quilt.

My first quilt made from Happy Campers by Moda. Just thought I would share. I have not had anyone teach me, just learning from the web,,(Missouri Star) & books. Never did any sewing either. The quilt is not the greastest, but I didn't think too bad for my first time!

Good job! Isn't quilting an awesome adventure, and where would we be without the MSQC?? Keep up the good work!

That is very lovely! Good for you for teaching yourself! But do give yourself a treat and take a class or two. You will meet lovely people and learn lots from just being in a class. And joining your local quilters guild is very rewarding too! It's a real nice community of people with similar interests! Happy quilting and keep up the beautiful work!

          Pinky,
          Thanks for you kind words.
Can you believe there is No local quilt guild in my area, not one in my county. The nearest one is about 40 miles. I went to the local senior center. Nice group of ladies there, but they do "Chicken Scratch" on gingham. Also would love to treat myself to a couple classes, but again nothing local and money is so tight. I think I need to start a quilt guild..isn't that funny someone who is just learning to start a quild!

Pats on the back Susan! Good job! Maybe you SHOULD start a quild. I bet there are lotsa ladies (and men) that would love to join. You never know til you try. I've been thinking about joining a guild too, but I'm nervous about commiting a lot of time to it. I'm also not very confident. I am a new, self taught quilter too, & I LOVE the tuts MSQC has provided for us along with many other tuts on the web! I've done some mending & making clothing, but piecing & hand quilting & free motion & embroidery & applique......this is a whole new world for me.
I'm itching to try some art type quilts....thread painting...something like that. Or maybe working with
photo transfers.... it all sounds like fun.
If at first you DO succeed, try not to look so surprised.

I think you did great Susan!!! It all starts with one - can't wait to see more quilts that you make.
If you run into even 1 other person in your area that likes to quilt in the future, you could start your own little quilting group. Even getting together once a month would be nice - you could help each other.

Thanks for sharing your first quilt with us.

                Hugs,

                Trish

Susan, I think your first quilt is wonderful. Great job!

I was so excited with my first one. A friend gave me a pieced top and I sandwiched it and quilted away. I had no instruction and was not aware you were supposed to hide the knots. They were big sturdy ones! I took a class after that to the great relief of my friends.
