    Different apple pie recipe #2: Praline caramel apple pie

    For those of you who found the bacon apple pie to be too "out there," this one's for you.

    Prepare pastry for a two crust pie and refrigerate.

    Praline mixture
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup chopped pecans
    1/3 cup flour
    1/4 cup butter, melted

    Combine these ingredients and set aside

    Apple filling
    6 cups thinly sliced peeled apples
    1 teaspoon lemon juice

    Place apple slices in a large bowl. Sprinkle lemon juice over apple slices and toss.

    2/3 cup sugar
    3 Tablespoons flour
    2 teaspoons cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

    Combine these ingredients and sprinkle over apple slices. Toss to coat.

    Assemble pie
    Place bottom crust in pie pan. Place half of apple filling in crust, top with half of praline mixture. Unwrap 10-12 Kraft caramel candies and scatter on top. Repeat layers of apple filling and praline mixture. Dot with about 1 tablespoon of butter. Cover with top crust and seal edges. Cut slits in top crust. Bake at 375 degrees until apples are done, about 45-50 minutes. Best served warm so the caramel is melty.
