    Slow cooker/Crock pot recipes

    Hi

I have recently made a slow cooker lasagna for the first time in my slow cooker.
    It turned out great.

What do you cook in your slow cooker ?
    Your go to recipe ?

I am contemplating trying out the loaded potato soup.

    Anyone tried that ?

    Have a great day/evening

    Here's one of our favorites:

    Southwest Chicken
    3-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
    1 jar salsa
    1 can corn (kernels)
1 can black beans, rinsed well

Cook on low in crock pot until chicken is tender. Pull chicken into shredded pieces and stir well. Can be served as is, or over rice - we have even rolled it into tortillas. Super easy and good.

I seldom use a slow cooker but when I do it's usually to make lasagna (Gerri's recipe).

        Green Bean Soup
        4 large Russet Potatoes
        2 cups of Diced Ham
3-4 Cans Green Bean ( I use whole cut Green Beans )
1 Small Onion diced ( or sliced )
2-3 cans Carnation Evaporated Milk OR any kind of evaporated milk ( depending on how big you Slow Cooker is ....I have a large one so I use 3 )
Chicken Base to taste....this varies with everyone I put 2-3 Tablespoons to 1/2 cup water
In 1/2 cup water make a paste of Instant Potato flakes......set aside. This along with the chicken base are the last to indgredients to add to the soup mix.

In a large crock pot cook the Ham, Potatoes, Green Beans & Onions on high for 3-4 hours or until done. Then add the Potato flakes mixed with water ( this thickens up the soup ). Stir Well
Add the Chicken Base....stir really well.
Add the Carnation Evaporated Milk ( not Eagle Brand ! ) to the mixture....Stir well. Continue to cook for another 1 1 1/2 hours til tastes done !
        Serve with a Toss Salad
        Coookies & Jello for dessert

This was one of my go-to meals when my kids with in school and did a lot of sporting activities. It's quick, and putting it in the crockpot it's done and waiting for us when we would come home from practices or a game.

You can also cook this on the stove....without using the crock pot....It takes less time of course.....
Just Boil the Ham, Onion, Potatoes & Green Beans until test done.
Add the other ingredients explained above.....except do this just prior to serving ( about 30 minutes )

It's a great meal on cold wintery nights !

BTW....you can buy Chicken Base almost anywhere nowadays. I purchase mine from Gordon Food Service ( they have a store for the public in my area )
You can also use fresh green beans from the garden as well....( I really prefer it with the fresh green beans )

Here's a link ( to show you what the Chicken Base looks like ) from Amazon, although I know that a lot of grocery stores sell this brand.....it doesn't matter what brand of chicken base you use....it just needs to be Chicken Base. Like I pointed out in the recipe I purchase mine from Gordon Food Service/ GFS

I have never tried Lasagna in a slow cooker.....! Thought about it, just never have done it. I have a recipe that comes from my Grandma's sisters that lived in Italy and I really like it, although it takes a lot of time to make it, so it's usually something I only make once or twice a year.

Has anyone tried desserts in their slow cooker? I'd love to see what people have made. I'm not a good baker, never have been and thought maybe in a slow cooker it might work

I don't use mine a lot but I do make an italian roast and also split pea soup in mine. Everything else seems to turn out the same way like slop. Just got the hang of how you can throw meat and stuff in it turn it on and go to work come home 8 to 10 hours later and not have everything well overcooked and the consistency of slop. But thats me.

I'm glad you started this and I'm interested to see favorite crockpot recipes from others here.

One of my favorites is simple, just put chicken breast(s) in the crockpot, salt, pepper, fresh chopped garlic. Add water and cook on low for 8 hours. Then I shred the chicken and make chicken salad. I love the taste and texture. I haven't tried it yet but next time I do this I'm going to add BBQ sauce to the chicken salad for something different.

I am thawing a roast that I'll make tomorrow in the crockpot and I'll add frozen veggies I have in the fridge.

I haven't made it yet but am going to try this Betty Crocker Crockpot recipe. Every Betty Crocker recipe I've ever made has always been delicious. It's for a crockpot meatloaf https://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes...e-5be38cf55073

I can't say I've tried this but it looks so good and I've always had everything turn out good in the slow cooker. A chocolate lava cake recipe from Betty Crocker. I've been saving this recipe for the next time I want to make a dessert but have enough people to send some home with. Otherwise I'll eat all of it. When it comes to chocolate I don't have much will power.

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/237034/...bread-pudding/ I love bread pudding and the apples add a wonderful additional flavor.
https://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes...4-0ff38725f762 I have not tried this one, but I bet I do tomorrow. Hot fudge sundae/brownie cake is one of my favorites in the oven and I bet it's delicious in the CP
https://www.crockpoteasyrecipes.com/...ownie-pudding/ This recipe is almost identical to one I do in my oven. Oh my gosh, it is so satisfying and warms the tummy. On a cold day, with a little vanilla ice cream or home made whipped cream, you can't beat it. Our kids loved this when they were growing up. So did the big people in the home

I don't use it much, my husband loves my chicken cacciatore in the crockpot.
Throw in some onions, garlic, mushrooms, chicken thighs or breasts, a big can
of tomato sauce, some wine, cook half the day on low. Serve with pasta.
