What is your favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner?

Besides being invited to someone else's house for the traditional dinner. I'm not a big fan of tirkey but really love some of the side dishes, my fave is lightly candied yams.

The candied yams are my favorite too, followed by the stuffing. We never have turkey though as none of us are fond of it. We usually do a prime rib.

Cranberry Sauce. Of course I have to pair it up with the traditional turkey. But at home I mix canned jellied cranberries with drained crushed pineapple. That mix goes well with the turkey and/or stuffing. That mix was my responsibility to make to take to the family dinner at grandma's when I was very young.

All of it! :-) I like the sweet potatoes with the brown sugar & pecan topping, but my family doesn't like it so I don't make it. Since it's just the two of us now, and this year our youngest son will join us, we don't go all out like we used to, but I like to have enough that we can have leftovers - that's one of the best parts of Thanksgiving dinner to me!

When somebody else has to make it!!! I've been told I get to do it again this year. It will be easier than trying to put a Christmas tree up next to the hospital bed!

........the fact that my family rarely has a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Sometimes we have tacos, or gumbo, fried shrimp, pork loin. Turkey and the trimmings.....I like it okay but would rather have something else.

            .......and of course desserts!

We generally stay home and invite someone over who would otherwise be alone on Thanksgiving - it could be a family or an individual so the amount of people vary from year to year. Lots of wonderful memories through the years.

One of the favorite traditions around here is right after we get done eating, the children make turkeys that are similar to this http://hugsandcookiesxoxo.com/2010/1...urkey-day.html and then they eat them.

In this order: 1) the stuffing during the dinner; 2) the leftovers for the next day(s); and 3) the turkey carcass to make soup.

The stuffing is the favorite followed closely by the desserts.

My favorite thing is the wonderful smell of the house when the turkey is roasting and the pies are baking. I'm not a turkey fan but I love the traditional side dishes and, of course, the pumpkin pie with real whipped cream. Leftovers are nice.

I must be a weirdo-I like the turkey, dark meat please. That being said, I have already gotten several texts from college age nieces and nephews regarding the NEED for sweet potato casserole they tend to skip the pies and just sprinkle extra mini marshmallows on a plate of this and micro for a dessert.

We usually skip the traditional and have a themed dinner - one year it was seafood, another it was Greek. Whatever we've not done before and would like to try, that's what we do. No real turkey eaters here.

Cranberry sauce and dressing with gravy. I do also love the stuffed dates I make at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Thanks to my family's traditional lack of interest, I don't have to bother with it at all. I can have turkey or any of the other dishes whenever I want.
