Years ago my Aunt had this recipe for these bars called "Chewy Bars" They were so soft and buttery and chewy. She can't remember the recipe now . I would love to make some of these again. Any help please..
What was the flavor? Butterscotch, chocolate? I have some older cookbooks I will look through for you.

1/2 c. butter
1 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1 c. firmly packed dark brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts
Blend butter and sugars. Do not mix too much if a chewy cookie is desired. Add eggs and beat well. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture. Add vanilla and nuts. Spread in a greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. Cut into bars while still warm, but leave in pan until cold. Yield: 4 dozen.
Sometimes, when there's a raging fire,
it's best not to try to put it out with gasoline.
Here is what comes to mind when you ask for a chewy butter bar. Cut in small pieces because they are rich!
