Thank you, everyone, for the birthday wishes! I turn 63 today. Our weather is mild (mid-30's), so we plan to go out for a walk later.

I have never been able to view it that way. To me, the only worse day to have a birthday would be February 29.

MSN you did it all wrong. I learned to announce early that it was both my birthday and christmas...they had to do the math...that's 2, yes 2 gifts :-). I definitely had my priorities straight. I also recall in first grade the nun asked whose birthday was Christmas day. I did the frantic "Sista, Sista" waving my hand, so she called on me. I proudly said "Mine!". She replied, "well, that's right and then asked can anyone else say who else was born on Christmas Day."

What I discovered was that I didn't miss out (not only because of my big mouth) but also my sister was born on Jan 12 so people just added my gifts to their credit card at Christmas. Poor Karen though, they had just gotten their credit card bill with overspending on Christmas cheer. She did not do so well :-/

My experience was different. When I was young, the Sunday school teacher asked us to draw a picture about Christmas Day. I drew a birthday cake. She found it curious that I drew a birthday cake for baby Jesus. When I explained that the birthday cake was for me, I was scolded. I learned quickly to keep my mouth shut.

Its just amazing what little humor or understanding of small children things like Sunday school or nuns can have. It's not like if the other kids in the class had their birthday on Christmas they wouldn't have said the same thing. I was fortunate that that particular nun didn't try to shame me (which some would have). I just was embarressed because I guess I expected everyone in the room would break out in song. How ignorant, lets face it when Jesus said Let the little ones come to Me He didn't add so I can scold the bejesus out of them. But I can say that after that time I couldn't take it when The First Noel was sung at Christmas when I was in the room. I always would turn bright red.
